A Child Labour Free, Just and Equitable Society

Child Friendly Police Corners

Four Child Friendly corners have been established at the Police Station/ Outpost in the last phase of the project. Although it is mandated in the Juvenile Justice Act that Child Friendly Corners should be mandatorily established in all Police Stations across the country; however due to infrastructural manpower shortage of the Police departments we are far from realising the mandate. Despite these challenges Kalimpong/ Darjeeling districts were able to establish a few child friendly corners in collaboration with BSA. The Police now have a space to deal and intervene cases of children in a child friendly manner. The children too have a child friendly space at the Police Stations to disclose/ share their problems.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has acknowledged BSA for establishing one of The First Child Friendly Corners In Darjeeling And Kalimpong Districts.
1. Kalimpong Police Station
2. Jaldhaka Police Station, District Kalimpong
3. Mirik Police Station, District Darjeeling
4. Birpara Police Station, District Alipurduar

Every child has the right to grow up in a safe and inclusive environment

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Child (UNCRC) defines a child as any human being under the age of eighteen, unless the age of majority is attained earlier under a nation's own legislation. The Government of India ratified the UNCRC in 1992.
The UNCRC outlines the fundamental human rights that should be afforded to children in four broad classifications that suitably cover all civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights of every child:

Survival
Protection
Development
Participation
Help Other People
