Established in the year 2006, Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust (BSA) is a registered development organisation founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny. Based in Kalimpong (West Bengal, India), BSA was formed to work for the rights of children, especially for the elimination of child labour and other forms of exploitation of children. In just over fifteen years, BSA’s interventions have covered a range of aspects – from working in the community on prevention to providing rescue and rehabilitation services to lobbying with the government for implementation of child labour and child rights related laws. It doing so, the organization has not only created visibility and promoted action against child labour in the community but also made a name for itself amongst government agencies in Kalimpong and Darjeeling Districts whose services even the government has come to depend heavily on.
